César Chávez Day

The campus was closed today for Cesar Chavez Day so we got to spend the whole day together! We started off by going out to Riverside to look at tile, then to the chiropractor, then to Aquanatal to say hello, then to Great Grandmas house, to Sprouts and finally home! After dinner we met Grandma Terri at Kohls in Ontario and we bought you a few outfits for summer. You were so sleepy because you didn't get a proper nap all day! You enjoyed the peas and squash I made for you tonight1!

An evening with Grandma and Grandpa

Daddy and I went to the movies and Grandma and Grandpa Di Donato watched you. They were so excited to see you because they hadn't seen you since you have been able to stand up! You stood up and sat down all night for them. You wore yourself out and knocked out about 9. When we came to get you, you looked so cute all snugglie on the floor with your little blanket. We will be back on Sunday for Great Grandma Theresa's birthday!

Sweetie in Cherries

I love this little outfit on you Genevieve! There is even a little cherry on the bottom in the back! It says "Sweetie" on the front and you look so cute moving and shaking in this outfit! Warm weather headed our way this week! Time to tuck away the long sleeves and break out all those cute onesies!

Ethel M's and Calico Ghost Town

Before we got on the road we stopped at Ethel M's Chocolates in Las Vegas. Every time I go they are never making chocolate! It was no different this time but it was fun to see all the machines and get our free samples. We headed down the 15 freeway and stopped off at Calico Ghost Town. It was a fun side trip and we enjoyed looking at all the old buildings. We went into the mine and climbed to the top of the hill to see the valley. It was fun to go to on the way  to or from Vegas. In a couple years we will go back again! We had a great time in Las Vegas!

Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas

This morning we headed out to Red Rock Canyon. After realizing the stroller was NOT going to work on the trails we ended up spending a good amount of time at the visitors center (which was beautiful!). After the vistors center we did the 13.1 mile scenic drive around the park. Lots of beautiful places to see and trails to hike. The weather was perfect and there were a lot of people out enjoying the park. We will have to go back when you can walk and do some of the beautiful trails they have.

After Red Rock Canyon we headed back to Angela and Denny's house for a yummy dinner of lasagna and homemade strawberry pie. We were stuffed! We turned it in early and got some good rest. Headed home tomorrow!

Viva Las Vegas!

You collected a fourth state in your collection Genevieve. Today we drove up to Las Vegas, Nevada to visit Aunt Angela and Uncle Denny. They made us a wonderful dinner and we got to enjoy a nice evening with them. You were a good traveler for the most part and slept pretty good in the pack and play Grandma Diane let us borrow. Big day tomorrow! Red Rock Canyon and lasagna for dinner, yummy!

Moments of Mothering

Thank you Danelle Frisbie for sharing this beautiful story on your blog!

"There are some moments of mothering that are just too special to share with anyone but the little ones with whom you live them. Others seem almost too splendid not to offer an outsider a glimpse of, if for no other reason than just to let new moms-to-be know how pristine and blissful even the otherwise trivial and mundane times are with a securely attached baby. And how fleeting these days are... how few of them we really have to hold and nurse and rock and sing to our little ones. We only get this one chance to tenderly care for this new human life, quickly growing and changing right before our eyes. To wrap our love around them and meet their every need, protecting and comforting all the while, as we let them develop their own wings to fly. We have this one shot to 'do it right' and soak in every breath of this beautiful little child."

Danelle goes on to describe a evening at home with her son...

"So we turned off all the lights. Placed the candle on a little bench by our rocking chair. Set iTunes on repeat (ah, yes, good thing he doesn't mind my song selection at the age of 2). We struck a match, and as the flame flickered, we rocked, and nursed. We snuggled and sang. Drifting deeper, one lyrical line at a time. The moonlight now taking my place, with its solo dancing on our window pane, and our candle answering back.

This is the really good stuff that mothering is made of.

And I wouldn't trade it for all the sleep training or early bedtimes or parent-directed-schedules or premature weaning in the world. I only have this one chance. And if there's a single thing the decade of my roaring 20s taught me, it's that you can sleep later. For now, soak it all in, and dance (with your baby)!"

Next month: Easter

Next month is your first Easter and Grandma Diane got you in the mood with these cute green bunny ears. I don't think you liked them on top of our head much, as you kept taking them off to eat them! Grandma Terri also got you a set of bunny ears, you will have no shortage of cute themed photos for sure!

Standing Up, The Process

Standing is still a multistep process for you Genevieve. You seek your target out and reach for it. You slowly get your feet underneath you and reach up. Using both arms you reach and slowly lift yourself to a standing position. You are working on getting down from standing, almost have it! Till then you cry a bit for us to help you down.

Seeing Double

Going along with how you love to watch yourself on TV, you love to look at yourself in the mirror. I don't know what it is with babies and mirrors, but you can't get enough. It was so odd to look at you in the mirror, it was like seeing what I would of seen if I would of had twins! You licked yourself, banged on the mirror, pulled yourself up on the mirror and explored as much as a little baby possibly could. Hours of endless fun!

Genevieve TV

Genevieve your favorite TV star is yourself! There is nothing quite as exciting as watching yourself on the computer. There is that baby that looks just like you again! You can tell from the smile in the first photo how much excitement you have to watch yourself. You can really tell your bald spot in the second photo though! I will have to learn how to use the video editing program I got to put together a highlight reel for you. I wonder who is keeping me from having time.... hmmmm... I love you anyways Genevieve!

Fort Genevieve

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

This morning Genevieve you got on your knees, then you placed one foot underneath you, then the other and pulled yourself up on our bed. Daddy was in the shower and I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Just yesterday you got on your knees for the first time and now you are pulling yourself up. You were trying to get to the blinds behind the bed and you were so pleased with yourself that you could reach them.

All day long you pulled yourself up on anything you could get your hands on! Your muscles must be so tired.. You are such a big girl now Genevieve, what am I going to do with you? We had to contain you in the living room in your "fort" that daddy put together for you. You enjoyed pulling yourself up on the ottoman and chewing on it with your little teeth... You also were able to hang on as you "walked" along the ottoman to get to your toy. That is a lot of growth and development for one day Genevieve!

Almost Standing

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

Daddy sent me this picture today on my phone. He went to the kitchen and when he came back you had gotten on your knees and were holding on to the rail. It won't be long before your into everything Genevieve! These two photos I did of you in the morning. You look so cute in you monkey shirt and pants. Believe it not this was not a set! Grandpa Raul got you the shirt and Grandma Terri got you the pants, so cute!

Happy St. Patricks Day

Well it was an uneventful St. Patrick's day in the Lara household tonight. Grandma Terri made you a green shamrock bib and Grandma Diane got you green shamrock socks but you went to bed before I could get a picture of you with them. Ms. Nancy was sick yesterday and was still sick today so you got to go over to Judy's house for the day. Judy loved playing with you and said you were a good baby. Back to Ms. Nancy's next week when everyone is feeling better.

Bath Time Play Time

Genevieve you looked so cute in the bath tonight! You have been in a very happy and playful mood, yea for happy babies!! I never seem to dress you in shirts/pants, just onesies, so before you outgrow all of your cute shirts I put you in your cute Cal Poly Pomona shirt that Wendy Nasmyth got you. You looked so cute, and all ready with your green for St. Patrick's day tomorrow!
