Meet baby Laural

Tonight you got to meet Baby Laural and mommy's friend Keli from high school. Keli and Laural were in town visiting from New Hampshire and we had to stop by to say hello and meet her. Laural was born about 2 months after you and just as tall you! You enjoyed playing with her and even reached for her hair.

This afternoon you had your 6 month checkup. You got 3 shots :( and you weighed 18 pounds and were 26" long. You were giving a clean bill of health by the doctor. You were in the 90th percentile for height and weight, which may seem high but you use to not even be on the chart!

Happy 1/2 birthday!

Happy 1/2 birthday Genevieve! Today we celebrated your 6 month birthday at Grandma Terri's house. She put up a few fun decorations, Mommy made you 1/2 a cake and we had lots of family come to celebrate your 1/2 year with us! Aunt Teresa tried giving you some berries that you didn't like and you tried to eat the cake! Grandma and Grandpa gave you a 1/2 dollar and a cute card to commemorate the occasion.

The first 6 months have just flown by Genevieve and I can only imagine time starts to move faster. 6 months from now you will be turning a year old, maybe walking and really moving around. I guess we better start to baby proof the house because you will be into things before we know it. You had a rough day today, I think you are teething again . I hope you have a better day tomorrow because I hate to see you upset. I love you Genevieve, you bring so much happiness to mommy and daddy's world. Hope you had a great 1/2 birthday!

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

Today we had a catch up day!Lots of small errands around town and some things to do at the house. We stopped and got ice cream this afternoon while we were out, you seemed very interested in it! In the afternoon we went to Great Grandma Theresa's house and had fun while Daddy cut the bush in the backyard. It is supposed to cool down tomorrow so back to your warm winter clothes baby girl!

Dinner at Red Lobster

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.6

Tonight Daddy wanted to go out to eat at Red Lobster and you did so good in the high chair! You kept yourself entertained by chewing on your book and banging on the table. It is so much easier to eat when I am not holding you! The chair cover I use for the shopping cart also works really good on the highchair. That way you can slobber on the cover and not the wood...

Wonderful Baby

Grandma Terri loves this song! I thought I would share the lyrics with you...

Wonderful Baby by Don McLean

Wonderful baby livin' on love the
sandman says maybe he'll take you above,
up where the girls fly on ribbons and bows, where babies float by, just
counting their toes.

Wonderful baby nothin' but new, the
world has gone crazy, I'm glad I'm not you.
At the beginning or is it the end? It goes
in and comes out and starts over again.

Wonderful baby livin' on love the
sandman says maybe he'll take you above,
up where the girls fly on ribbons and bows, where babies float by, just
counting their toes.

Wonderful baby I'll watch while you grow. If
I knew the future you'd be first to know. But I don't know nothin' of what
life's about, Just as long as you live, you'll never find out.

Wonderful baby, nothin' to fear.
Love whom you will, but doubt what you hear.
They'll whisper sweet things to make untrue. So be good to yourself, that's all
you can do. You're a wonderful baby livin' on love the sandman says maybe he'll
take you above, up where the girls fly on ribbons and bows, where babies float
by, just counting their toes, where
babies float by, just counting their toes...

More Rice cereal

Genevieve you are getting a little better at eating your rice cereal! It still mostly ends up on your face or on your bib but a little bit more is making it into your mouth. Another few days and you will be on to Oatmeal cereal!

As I was uploading your photos tonight it said I was out of storage space! I didn't know I could run out of my free storage space!! Good thing it was only $5 to buy a ton more but that just shows you how many photos I have of you up here!

Haircut for Mommy

Today I had my annual haircut. It turned out pretty good I think! Daddy seemed to like it to. It is still long enough for you to give it a good yank and as soon as I came home you tried it out! Your hair is almost long enough for a haircut but you will have to wait a while still. I wouldn't want scissors near your head until you can hold it up a little bit better!

In with the new, out with the old

You are a growing girl Genevieve! It was finally time to switch out your 3-6 month clothes to your 6-9 month clothes.  Due to a generous holiday gift from Grandpa and Grandma Lara you have everything you need for the next 3 months! I washed all of it, took the tags off and as you can see from your piles you have more then a little girl needs to choose from! It is sad to see so many cute 3-6 size outfits gets packed away but you have so many new cute ones to choose from it makes it a bit easier...

Sunday Football

Great Granddaddy Fortune has been missing you! He came over today, along with Grandma Diane and Grandpa Gil to watch football and to spend time with you. As always you entertained everyone with all of your new tricks (rolling over, almost crawling, etc). We had pizza and enjoyed spending the afternoon together.

1st solid foods and Pio Pico House

Today we started you on rice cereal for the first time. You were excited to try it and enjoyed eating it (what made it into your mouth at least!). You were so eager you were grabbing for the spoon and trying to feed yourself! You are just a week shy of 6 months old so I think it was a perfect time to start foods.

We are going to try the rice cereal for a week or so before we move you on to an oatmeal cereal. After that it is free reign! I have my baby food cookbook and just a few more supplies I need and we will be off in cooking in February!

After your food adventure in the morning Mommy took you to the Pio Pico house in Whitter. I have been wanting to go for a long time and finally decided to just do it! It was a gorgeous day and you of course love being outside.  Although it is a small place (but free!) we enjoyed looking around and learning more about local history!

1st time in a shopping cart

Tonight Joyce invited us down to the birth center to talk to 4 prospective couples about our wonderful experience there. It was so much fun sharing our story and showing you off to everyone! We were in desperate need of groceries and since you are sitting up so good now we thought we would try taking you to the store with us. We used the shopping cart cover and with the help of the little pillow you sat up so good. You enjoyed looking at all the different colors and items in the grocery store. It will be so much easier to take you out now because I won't have to carry you all the time!

Notes from Nancy

Everyday you go to daycare Ms. Nancy writes us a note to tell us what you have been up to all day. I love reading the note when I get home, it makes me feel like I was part of your day. It catalogs your naps, when you eat, when you need a change, walks and playtime. I am saving all the notes in a folder for you to see what you were up to one day.

Still working on crawling...

You are still working on the crawling thing Genevieve! You can pivot around on your stomach 360 degrees, roll over both directions and go backwards (not on purpose) but have yet to go forward. You have got on your knees and rocked a few times, moved one knee but haven't figured out the mechanics of moving forward. Soon enough you will, until then we are enjoying you getting around at your own pace!

Genevieve and her keys

Aunt Christi got you a set of "keys" for Christmas and they keep you occupied for hours! There are three keys, a green house key, a blue boat key and a orange car. The key chain plays a variety of noises and songs that go along with the keys. You love to push the buttons, rattle them and just stare at them, they must be very interesting!

Last day in Seattle

The weekend went by fast! Today we got up and met Chloe for breakfast at, where else, Starbucks! We had a nice time catching up and she enjoyed meeting you (even if you were wearing a Dodger outfit!). Then it was off to Rejuvenation Lighting for some shopping. I got a cute juice glass made out of recycled glass soda bottle, a monkey hook for your room, some house numbers and some picture rail hooks to try out.

On to the airport where you were again a model traveler! We really won the baby lottery with you Genevieve. Daddy picked us up from the airport and he was so happy to see you. I don't know if it was because you were tired from all the traveling or what but you slept in your crib for the first time. What a surprise! I hope you can learn to sleep in it every night...

Site Seeing in Seattle

What a full day we had Genevieve! Grandpa Gino's friend Phil came and picked us up in the morning and we headed out to Snoqualmie Falls for brunch. Phil's daughter Olivia and his two sisters also joined us. After a wonderful brunch we looked at the waterfall that was just busting at the seams with water. The water was coming over the falls so hard it made it so misty it was hard to see.

From the falls we headed to the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum in downtown Seattle. We enjoyed looking around and seeing all of the fun displays they had. Several of the major displays were closed so we didn't get to see everything. We walked around Seattle Center for a bit and then went over to Pikes Place. We walked through the market, visited the 1st Starbucks and enjoyed some good company before heading back.
