New Years Eve and 5th month Birthday

It is New Years eve and your 5th month birthday. I actually did your month pictures on your actual day! Thank goodness for a sunny day and time off of work. As usual we have no new years plans, every year we think someone will invite us somewhere to do something but never anything. You went to sleep about 9pm and I cleaned and picked up the house till about 1am. Daddy was on the computer and watched TV, it was an uneventful evening to say the least! Welcome 2011!

5th and Final Day- San Fransisco

It was our 5th and final day in San Fransisco. We checked out of our wonderful hotel, Phoenix, and headed over to Sutro Heights. It would of been an easy hike to poke around but everything seems to go up in difficulty when pushing a stroller around! We looked up on the hill and saw with Sutro had built his home, recreation area and greenhouse. It is hard to imagine such beautiful buildings could of been bulldozed!

Next we headed across the street and started walking down towards the Sutro baths. An old public bath complex, where the ruins can still be seen. We would of loved to stay longer but we had a long drive ahead of us so we got back in the car and headed out and down the coast. The drive seemed to have gotten longer on the way home and you were not as happy on the way back as you were on the way up. But we made it home and you were so happy to be home! I think you were happy to be out of the car seat. 8 hours is a long time for a little girl. We had a great trip and I can't wait to take you to Seattle in January!

4th day- San Fransisco

Our last full day in the city by the bay! We started off the morning at the USS Hornet in Alameda. Daddy saw the ship on a show he likes called Ghost Adventures and wanted to go see it. It was huge! It was easy to get lost in there with so many things to see and do.

We then went to the Berkley Bowl, an independently owned supermarket, kind of like Whole Foods, and had lunch. We looked around, I got a 12 pack of Mr. Pibb in cans (they don't sell it in SoCal) and some of the yummest oranges I have had in a long time. We stopped by Urban Ore on the way out of the city. You stayed in the car with Daddy went I went inside and looked around. Good thing we don't live near it, I would never stop going! So many great architectural finds.

Later that night we met Nicole at her gorgeous apartment in Russian Hill and walked over to dinner at the Buena Vista Cafe. In the daytime there is a great view of the bay. We had a nice dinner and went back to Nicole's to catch up. Today was our last full day, headed home tomorrow :(

3rd day- San Fransisco

With the full day of travel behind us and the travel home a couple days ahead of us, we headed up to Sonoma. Neither of us are wine drinkers but our main goal was to see the mission. It was one of 4 that I haven't seen and your very 1st mission to visit. It is the newest of the missions and is operated by the state park system. We also looked at General Vallejo house, the army barracks and ate some good cheese and fudge at Sonoma Cheese Factory. It drizzled all morning and as the day went on it turned into rain. We stopped by a winery on the way back but didn't buy anything, jst looked around at the pretty surroundings. We got to drive across the golden gate bridge there and back, it was fun to drive across! In the pouring rain it wasn't much else to do but hopefully next time we go the weather will be better!

2nd day- San Fransisco

The rain stayed away and gave us a wonderful day to go explore Alcatraz! You went on your first Cable Car ride and boat ride to get to Alcatraz. Once we were there we got to explore the island and do the audio tour of the cell house. You took a nice nap when we were doing the cell house tour and woke up just as we were finshing, talk about timing! The city at first was covered in fog but it cleared out and we got a great view of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge.

After we were done we walked to Pier 39 and got some much needed lunch at the Bourdain Bakery. We went to see the sea lions and walked over to Pier 45 to the penny arcade. We tried to catch the F Muni back but it was so packed! We ended up walking back 3 miles to Union Square. We stopped off at a Old Navy and got you the cutest hat to wear. We took the bus back to the hotel and ordered pizza for dinner, we were tired!

1st day- San Fransisco

Our first vacation as a family! You managed the 8 hour car ride really good (it was actually 7 hours, but between stops, eating and diaper changes it turned into 8 hour). We left the house about 10:15am and got into San Fransisco just after 6pm. We checked into the hotel and unloaded all our stuff. So much more stuff to bring with baby in tow!

We drove down to Haight Ashbury and had crepes for dinner. I ordered my favorite crepe, cinnamon, sugar, green apple and fresh cream. Daddy enjoyed his chicken and cheese crepe. We tried to look around but all the shops were shutting down. Looking forward to a great day at Alcatraz tomorrow!

Christmas Day

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5

Goodness, you took a lot of good pictures on Christmas day! Christmas started with a nice sleep in day, you and daddy slept till 9am! I bet this is one of the only Christmas that will happen. After you got up we opened presents here at the house. Daddy got you a nice red fleece outfit and I made you a memory box for all your special cards and trinkets for your 1st year.

We then headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Di Donato's house. Uncle Chris, Aunt Teresa and Uncle Scott, Great Grandma Theresa, Nita, Uncles John and Jim were all there. We opened some gifts, had a nice dinner (turkey) and opened more gifts. Santa had brought you a red wagon with a canopy, it is so cute! I can't wait to take you in rides in your wagon. You also got a cute bathtub cover and baby food cubes from Aunt Teresa and Great Grandma gave you something for your savings account.

Next we were off to Grandma and Grandpa Hernandez's house. Aunt Christi and Danny, Great Grandpa Fortune were already there. We had a wonderful dinner (rib eye roast) and opened more gifts! You got a rocking horse and some nice toys from Aunt Christi. Grandma and Grandpa got you a carseat that you need.

Our last stop of the night was at Nana and Papa house. Since we missed their Christmas Eve celebration we wanted to make sure we stopped by and said hello. We are leaving on our trip tomorrow, so much to pack! I had a very happy holidays with you Genevieve. Next year you will be tearing into presents and getting into everything. I will love you just the same!

Letter to Genevieve from the Heart

A letter to my daughter on her 1st Christmas....

Dear Genevieve,

Your very first Christmas baby girl! You have been such a beautiful gift to both Daddy and me. What a good baby you are! I think back on my pregnancy journey and feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful experience. I enjoyed every minute of it; taking great responsibility in making sure I did everything I could to make you a happy and healthy little baby.

This Christmas and holiday season are special because they are your first but each year will be special as well because you will be a different person, defined by your personality and life experiences. The wonder and beauty of the holiday season is not lost on young children. As we get older we get more jaded, I wish I could capture the beauty of pure excitement and happiness children bring to the holiday season. I can’t wait to see you so excited that Santa is coming, to watch you shake your gifts, experience the joy you get when you create and give gifts from your heart to someone.

You are so special to me Genevieve. So often when I hold you I just wish time would stop and could freeze us in that moment. Everything is so perfect when I hold you, your little body warm next to mine, right now I am everything you need and I know very soon you will need more than that. Soon you will be eating solid foods, crawling and even walking. It is hard to describe the feeling I have when my heart seems so full with love for you. You look up at me with your big brown eyes and snuggle your head against my chest, it is truly an emotion that I have a hard time expressing. I know one day (long long long time from now) when you have your own children you will have the same feeling.

Your Daddy and I love you so much. You have nowhere to go but up in life. I promise you I will always do my best to provide the best life possible for you. I love you, I love you, I love you little Miss Genevieve Tessie Lara and always will. Happy holidays to my beautiful baby girl, I love you…

Love always,
Mommy

Still love to eat your foot!

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5

Genevieve your foot must taste good because you keep trying to eat it! Interesting that you don't try to eat it if it is covered, but if you can see your toes you get your foot into your mouth and start licking your toes. I wonder how long you will stay this flexible? You seems to really like your play gym (pictured). I put you between both sides and you can bat at the toys from both sides. It also turns into a tunnel when you get bigger and start to crawl, but for right now I am not thinking about your crawling!!!

Grandma Babysitting Service

Today Grandma Terri watched you. Grandma is off of work this week so she watched you Monday and today. Grandma Diane is going to watch you tomorrow and Thursday. You will get Mommy and Daddy all next week because we are off! I am glad Grandma had this picture of you today because I can not find the picture I took! I wouldn't of wanted to miss a day, I have been so good!
