Genevieve Bed

So we are trying to get you to sleep on the floor next to us instead of in our bed. It was working for a while, until we were inconsistent a few nights so now we are back to convincing you to sleep on the floor. Daddy decorated around your "bed" with a few of your favorite things, hoping it would help. Well, you thought it was a playground and didn't really get down to any businesses of sleeping. Lesson learned on our end...

Goodbye summer 2013

We gave summer a final farewell today but going to the beach! It wasn't very hot, but we did a harbor cruise and saw sea lions, rode the Ferris wheel, ate pizza and played in the sand. We didn't go to the beach very much this summer because it was so mild but we did try to close out the summer on a sandy note.

Cal Poly Pomona Day at the Fair

Today was Cal Poly Pomona day at the LA County Fair. We went with Maria and her two boys. We took the shuttle from campus and didn't have to pay to park, yea! Admission was free (yea!) and the only thing we bought was an ice cream on our way out. We had a fun time and even met with up with Baby Audrey and her mommy and daddy. Your favorite was decorating the gingerbread man with the Velcro buttons. We even feed a camel carrots, you weren't afraid, what a big girl you are!

Popcorn Popping

We don't make a lot of popcorn around here, so I don't know if you have ever seen it pop in the microwave before. You were very interested, especially when it started making all kinds of noise! Once it was done, you weren't much into it, but Mommy and Daddy helped you out. You watched Snow White and in the scary parts hid behind the table or ottoman, peeking over the top. You are a thrill seeker at heart Genevieve!

Mermaid Genevieve

Princesses are limited to ball gowns. You embrace all equally, including those of the sea. You made a mermaid costume out of what you could, desperate times call for desperate measures when you don't have the proper costuming.

Sleepy Face

Every once and a while I can catch you with those baby sleepy lips you use to always get. I loved your baby sleepy lips and this morning I saw them on you. I know it isn't nice to take pictures of sleeping people, but your my baby, I know you will forgive me.

Stickers

Even though we have given up on your sticker reward chart (Genevieve if you sleep in your own bed for 3 nights we will take you to Disney to see princesses, "I don't want to go!") you still love a good sticker. I think there is something so universal about little girls and stickers, somehow we are programmed to love them.

Santa Beards of Bubbles

You love making Santa beards out of bubbles in the sink. You will walk around the house, dropping bubbles, saying "ho, ho, ho!". Tonight when we went to pick you up from Nana's house you both had Santa beards of bubbles on.

Santa Cruz, Day 4

It was time to come home! We left Santa Cruz early and made a stop at Mission Santa Cruz to grab a photo in front. As soon as we got on the freeway, you threw up all over yourself and your car seat. Of course at the same time, the next off ramp is closed (see reason 2 for why), there is a car on fire and a dead deer on the road. I finally manage to get off, strip you down to undies in the parking lot of some diner and then you have to pee, because it is 58 degrees outside and you are naked. Lucky for me I have a portable potty in my trunk. Also lucky for me, I had brought your second car seat with us, so when we took Gina's car I didn't have to move mine. I put all your clothes in a plastic bag, switch out your car seats, dump your potty and we are back on the road. Lucky for me (and you!) it was just a one time thing, the cinnamon roll you ate hadn't sat well with you.

Ok, so rough start but we are on the road. Next up is Mission San Antonio de Padua. Talk about off the beaten path. This was for sure a one shot deal on getting here so we explored as much until I got enough to last a lifetime full. It was my last mission though, woo hoo! Mommy has now visited all of them, I saved the hardest to get to for last. Next up the drive down to Santa Maria to visit Aunt Marianne. We stopped at the Madonna Inn to use the bathroom and got into Santa Maria just in time for lunch. We visited for a bit but then it was back on the road to fight traffic on the 101 from Santa Barbara to LA. We made it home, Daddy was so happy to see us! Mommy was so happy to not drive anymore! Genevieve was happy to be out of the car! Overall you were wonderful Genevieve, even handled throwing up like a champ. Thank you for being so great.

Santa Cruz, Day 3

Today was all about the Boardwalk! We started first thing in the morning by buying an all day pass for you to enjoy the rides. I even got to ride free on the rides that you didn't meet the height requirement! We used our tokens to play fun games in Neptune's Arcade (a former indoor pool). You loved to stop at the Laughing Sally over and over again. Soon we were out on the boardwalk dodging the ever present threat of rain. My favorite was the people mover ride. Soon it was raining, but we didn't let that stop us! We bought ice cream, ate it under cover and when the rain let up a bit, we got back on. You love the Dinosaur Train ride, in fact we rode four times in a row you loved it so much.

We met Gina, Brady and Nirel for dinner. You fell asleep after so much excitement and slept through the whole thing. Mommy shopped a bit in Santa Cruz while you slept and when you woke up we hopped on the trolly back to the boardwalk. Gina had promised you Cotton Candy and you DID NOT forget it. But of course since Gina wasn't around, I got for you. We walked back to the hotel for a much needed rest after such a busy day.

Santa Cruz, Day 2

It was move in day for Nirel at UCSC. We got going first thing in the morning and helped her unload everything for her dorm room. After going back to the hotel you and I packed up for sightseeing. We stopped at the Santa Cruz Surf Museum, and I was trying to make it to Natural Bridges State Beach, but you kept whining about going to the beach NOW that we ended up at a beach before then. It was still fun, but next time we will go to the beach I wanted to go to. It was windy and started to get cold so we headed back. We met up with Nirel at school and I got a picture of the 5 roommates. After a yummy pizza dinner we stopped at Trader Joes. I think this was thing you enjoyed most about the trip. You LOVED the little shopping cart. You ask for it every where we go.

Santa Cruz, Day 1

6am is an early start, but the best thing is that you fall asleep once in the car and will sleep till 8:30/9. Makes the car trip go so much faster. We stopped in a city called Buttonwillow who just happened to have a fantastic park off the main road. We were the only ones there and we played for a half hour or so before getting back on the road. Much better then a fast food stop to stretch our legs!

Next up was Mission San Miguel Arcangel. Talk about right off the freeway! This may be the easiest Mission to get to of them all. When we were there we met two ladies who were on a 21 day road trip to see the 21 missions and planned on staying to paint all day. I thought I was doing good with my goal to see them all, these ladies had me beat! After a lunch stop that didn't go quite as planned, but we ate none the less, we got to Mission Nuesta Senora de la Soledad. A small but pretty Mission that was completely rebuilt.

After threatening Gina that I was going to get into Santa Cruz before her, despite her leaving 24 hours ahead of me, she managed to beat me by a half hour. After an eventful hotel check in, we settled in and I had dinner at my favorite place in downtown Santa Cruz, Chocolate. We even found a Sleeping Beauty dress for you at thrift store.

Happy Birthday Nana, 2013

Today was Nana's birthday and they stopped by on there way home from dinner to surprise us. You are always so happy to see Nana and Papa and they are always so happy to see you. (notice you are dressed as Snow White, again...)

Cleaning House

When given the opportunity, you do enjoy vacuuming, sweeping and cleaning. You were doing such a good job vacuuming your room. It isn't often your room get a scrub down, it was overdue!

Fitbit walking

My goal is to walk 2000 miles this year. That means every day I need to walk about 6 miles. That means almost every night we are up and down the street trying to get as many steps/miles in before it is to late. You are a good walking companion and stay in your stroller for the most part. I always give you the option to stay home with Daddy but you always want to come with me. I like walking with you! We have special spots such as the girl with the doggie picture, Betty Boop, the colors, your stage, the gnome and many more spots we always stop along the way.

Your Most Prized Item

Your most prized possession is your Snow White dress. You say Belle is your favorite, but it Snow White, day after day that you wear. I let you wear it out to the store, you love when people say "look, it's Snow white!". You always giggle at that. Thank you Grandma for getting it for Genevieve.

Difficult!

Sometimes you can be a little difficult to photograph. You twist and turn and wont take a nice picture for Mommy. Thank goodness for digital because if it was film I would have rolls of film of the side of your head! Today I had my first walking tour of Downtown Upland. I had 14 adults, 2 babies and a dog attend! I raised $100 for the Cooper Museum as well, way to go Mommy!

Target Toys

If you ever need to kill a few hours, just bring Genevieve to the toy aisle of Target. She doesn't really ask you buy anything for her, but is very happy looking at the toys, playing with buttons and move on to the next one. I usually give her about 20 minutes before I run out things to play/check on my phone but it is a nice break for sure.

Belle Dress

Part of the benefits to having a Grandma that can sew is that she can make you whatever your heart desires. You were in need of a new Disney princess dress and Belle was made to order just for you from Grandma. You are getting quite a collection going of dresses!

Mommy's Belly

We found my belly cast in the closet today and you tried it on for size. I can't believe how big I was! You looked smashing in it and Mommy told you all about how I made you in my belly and how much I love you. You like hearing about the night you were born.
