Goodbye 2011...

New Years Eve 2011. We stopped by the Hardyman's house for dinner and headed home about 8pm. We still are not feeling that good and didn't want to spend to much time over there infecting them with the mutant cold virus we have. We all turned it in early tonight, no midnight celebrations for any of us, just some much needed rest!

Coming Home!

Nothing like coming home from a trip! We left Santa Maria this morning and since we were all feeling a little under the weather we headed straight home. As soon as we walked in the door you saw your little red car and said "car" and got very upset with me when I insisted we change your diaper before playing in your car. Later on in the evening you decided to watch TV by sitting on Daddy's chest. He let you do it as long as he could stand but eventually you had to move. We had a great vacation but glad to be home as well!

Santa Maria, Day 4

In case there was any question, you still hate the beach. Today we went up to Pismo Beach to the Butterfly Grove. There seems to be a lot less butterflies then the last time we went, but that could be my imagination. You were having a good time walking down the path to the beach, until you realized you were walking down a path to a beach. You saw the sand, heard the waves and you were very unhappy. We walked around the beach for a bit but you refused to be set down on the sand so we took off. We headed down the street to the main pier area, you had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. For dinner that night we went to Santa Maria BBQland and had some yummy Santa Maria style BBQ Tri Tip.

Santa Maria, Day 3

Another busy travel day! We started off the day at a Luffa Farm, yes you read that right, a luffa farm. The only luffa farm in the US that is open for tours. Surprisingly luffa's are most closely related to a cucumber and grow on a vine. We had such a good time, Huell Howser needs to do a show on this place! Uncle Rick, Celina and the kids joined us for our luffa adventure. From there they left to go back home and we headed up to San Luis Obispo. We stopped at the "other" Cal Poly and had lunch and looked around for a bit. Next we headed to downtown to shop and look around. What a fun downtown area! Lot's of cute shops, restaurants and sights to see. On the way back to the house we stopped by the Madonna Inn to look around. We had never been in side and wow, it is hard to describe. Gaudy but beautiful is as close as I can get. Next time we will stop for lunch, there cakes looked divine!

Santa Maria, Day 2

Today we eased into our vacation and started our day at the Santa Maria Discovery Museum. It was a nice medium sized kids museum. They had lots of fun things to see and do. A lot of it was for older kids but you found plenty to do while we were there. Celina and Madison met us there, although Madison is older so she found other things to do that you were not interested in. Next time we go to Santa Maria we will for sure be back! After the museum we took you to Waller Park. A HUGE duck pond and lots of playground equipment. You went down a fun twisty slide by yourself, it was scarier for Mommy then it was for you.

Santa Maria, Day 1

Before we could head up to Santa Maria we first had Mommy's friend Nicole and her new (so exciting!) fiance over. You may remember Nicole from your birth story. She is the one that had lunch with Mommy the day before you were born. The last meal I ate until you made it here! She just got engaged to Stephen who is from Ireland. They met in San Fransisco where they both now live. I am sure a trip to San Fransisco for there wedding is in order when they finally settle in on the details.

After we waved them goodbye, we packed our things and got in the car and headed up to Aunt Maryann's house in Santa Maria. You slept for 3 of the 4 hours it took us to get there, what a easy traveler you were this time. As soon as we got there Celina's kids, Madison and Ethan came over. You had such a good time playing with Madison and pointing to Ethan and saying "Baby". We had a yummy dinner and settled in for the night.

Christmas Day 2011

Christmas is over!

What an exciting day! We started Christmas with gifts at our house. Genevieve got crayons and a puzzle from Santa, a potty seat, Yo Gabba Gabba undies and a potty book from Mommy, a xylophone and crayons from Daddy. We then all left to go to Grandma and Grandpa Di Donato's house where it was more toys for Genevieve! A bath holder, Yo Gabba Gabba Stuffed animals, a See and Say, but really the star of the show was your little red car. You didn't want to get out of it the rest of the day! You really really loved that thing! Next up you stayed with Grandma and Grandpa while Mommy and Daddy put the finishing touches on dinner at home. They brought you down and we had a nice prime rib dinner with Chris, John, Jim, Teresa, Scott, Grandma, Grandpa and of course Mommy and Daddy.

Next stop on the Christmas tour was Nana and Papa's house. They had just finished eating and we made it just in time for more gifts! You got Yo Gabba Gabba Shoes, clothes and a few cute toys. You were so tired, you hadn't napped all day, you fell asleep eating. Since you were sleeping so good, we left you there while we made our final stop of the day, Great Grandmas house. For Christmas I wrote her a nice letter. After you woke up Mommy came down to pick you up, what a busy day!

Christmas Eve 2011

Christmas Eve 2011! We spent Christmas Eve at Aunt Danette's house in Palos Verdes. Lucky for us we didn't hit much traffic  and we got there in no time (plus Daddy was driving). Lot's of munchies and a yummy dinner, we had a great tome visiting with everyone and celebrating the holiday season. You had a great time getting into everything and playing with your new toys.

Hide and Seek

I came into the kitchen to look for you and I barely spotted you hiding behind the cabinet door. You really got as far back in there as you could. When I opened the door, you were so happy!! Must be fun to be so little and fit into tiny places.

Playing in the Sink

Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.4

The sink fun has not worn off! This time you started exploring more, taking the paper towels off, pushing off the screen on the window and anything else you can get your hands on. I only wish the sink was lower so I didn't have to stand but that would take all the fun of being so tall out of it for you.

Book Time with Daddy

It was book time with Daddy tonight. Daddy Hugs by Karen Katz is a book I bought for Daddy for Fathers Day before you were born. It counts 10 different ways Daddies can hug their babies, it is so cute. When Mommy reads it, I change it to Mommy Hugs. You love that book!

Water Water Water

Almost free and hours of endless entertainment, the sink. I turn the faucet on a drizzle and you love feeling the water with your hands and splashing on your toes. It seems like a cold game to play for winter but you really seem to enjoy it. Mommy just has to stand with you so you don't fall out of the sink. I don't get much done but you enjoy it so much I don't mind...

Grandma and Fun with Your One

Grandma comes in the morning twice a week to get you. On Monday's she takes you to your Fun with Your One class with the City of Upland. Today was your holiday party, another Santa, but Grandma thought you had enough Santa for the year and kept you far away. You were cranky today and didn't want to do the songs or play the games. You kept throwing yourself back and had a fit if Grandma tried to help you participate. Regardless of your lack of active participation, you would clap at the end of the song and say "yea"! This repeated over and over again. I think you have lost you mind Genevieve...

Holiday Party and Grandpa's Birthday Celebration

We hosted our annual Lara Holiday Party. Instead of our Saturday bash we usually host we tried a Sunday brunch. It was so much fun! Lot's of good breakfast foods, good company and a very lively game of White Elephant. Lori got you a Brobee backpack, you loved it! You took a nap at the perfect time, everyone had just left and I was asking myself, how am I going to clean up with Genevieve wanting to "help"? You fell asleep and I got everything cleaned and all the dishes washed, it was perfect. We met Grandma, Grandpa, Teresa and Scott at BJ's in Ontario for Grandpa's birthday dinner. Afterwards we went to the house and you had a fun time playing a game on the hearth and you enjoy when Grandpa makes a popping sound with his cheek, you even try to do it!
