Welcome to Genevieve's life!

Welcome to Genevieve's blog! My goal is to post a photo everyday to remember and document just how fast she is growing up. We don't want to miss anything!

It's a hand and footprint kind of day!

It's your one week birthday!  I can't believe it has already been a week since you were born. This week just flew by! Today we took Genevieve to get her hand and foot prints done at Color Me Mine in Victoria Gardens. We did one on circle clay and one on a heart. She was so good and let us get good prints without being to squirmy. The trip out to the mall tired both Genevieve and mommy out, nap time for both of us!

After our nap my tummy still hurt a bit so we rested in bed most of the afternoon. Daddy went to the grocery store and Grandma and Grandpa Hernandez came by to visit you in the evening. Grandma Terri e-mailed us to wish you a happy 1 week birthday to you as well. You are so sweet little Genevieve, I love you so much. I can't believe that this is the littlest you will ever be. I am trying to take lots and lots of pictures and remember how little you are and all the sweet little noises you make (I love your piglet noises!). Happy one week birthday little Genevieve, we love you so much!

AquaNatal Birth Center Checkup

Back to Aquanatal today for our first postpartum check up. You weighed in at 9 lbs 14 ozs and I lost another 10 pounds, for a total weight loss so far of 30 pounds, not bad for 1 week! The British midwives that were there when you were born, Naomi and Sarah, had their last day so we had to say good bye to them while we were there. They were completing an international internship component to there midwifery training while they were here. Lynn and Joyce said I was healing nicely from the birth, my swelling had disappeared and everything was going back to where it needed to be!

On the way home we stopped by the chiropractor to show you off. While we were there I got an adjustment, everything seemed a little out of place after the birth. A few cracks and everything went right back into place! In the evening Daddy went to his first Dodger game since you were born. Grandma and Grandpa Di Donato came over and brought dinner and we had a nice evening at home. Daddy came home late and we all went to bed.

Meet the Great Grandparents!

Your first real outing! We took you to see Great Grandma Theresa Kuivinen and Great Nana and Papa Hernandez. They were so happy to meet you!

Later in the evening we went on our first walk! We didn't go far, just up to 8th street and back on 3rd Avenue. When I was pregnant with you I walked so much, over 3 miles a day most days! You were right at home walking. I felt like I was walking in slow motion because I haven't walked in so long and everything was still a little sore from the birth. Mommy forgot a blanket to cover you with so you got a little chilly. About 1/2 way home you started to cry (probably because you were cold!) so we walked as fast as we could back home. I am looking forward to lots of walks with you little piglet!

Bath Time

Somebody did not like the bath! Daddy gave you your first bath today and you screamed and screamed! We washed you with a yummy smelling Burt Bee's baby shampoo. You still had a little bit of vernix in your hair from when you were born so we got the rest of it out. You toughed it out in the bath and then Daddy washed your hair over the sink. After the bath you were so happy and alert. Your hair curls up so cute after a bath!

Day 3, Mommy loves you!

Today was the day that we got to really bond for the first time. You looked so cute in your little yellow and green oneies that Lori bought you. We spent most of the day laying in bed looking at each other. I still can't believe that you are my baby girl! You are so sweet and perfect, it is hard to imagine that I grew you inside my belly for 10 months!

I have always loved you but today is when I really fell in love with you. You became my daughter today, it is hard to explain all the feelings I felt when I looked at you. I never want to let you go and can't stop holding you and kissing you. I love you so much little Genevieve, you will always be my little baby girl, no matter how much you grow up...

Say Cheese!

Today was a big day! We took you down to the birth center in the morning for them to pop off the plastic piece on your cord. As soon as we came back the photographer arrived! You were the perfect model, so sleepy and got into any position we put you in. The photos turned out so cute! We will get the rest in a couple weeks.

In the afternoon we took you to the pediatrician to get checked out. You are a perfectly healthy baby! You weighed 9 lbs 5 ozs at the office and passed all your tests with flying colors! You were so sleepy all day and night- we are lucky parents! The birth must have tired you out...

Your second day- so many vistors!

Today is your first full day of life! You had so many visitors come by to say hello and to meet you. Aunt Teresa and Uncle Scott came by on their way home from Las Vegas, the Truman family all stopped by, Grandma and Grandpa Di Donato came by as well as Grandma and Grandpa Hernandez and Great Grandpa Fortune. Aunt Christi had stopped by the house the day you were born to meet you.

Everyone was so excited to meet you/see you again. You were such a good baby and let everyone hold you, pass you around and shower you with kisses!
