Welcome to Genevieve's life!

Welcome to Genevieve's blog! My goal is to post a photo everyday to remember and document just how fast she is growing up. We don't want to miss anything!

Santa Monica Beach Day

Another Sunday at the beach. You even let the ocean water touch you today, either you were feeling brave or you don't mind the water anymore. You played at the baby muscle beach as well, you love that place!

Pool Time Floating

You just love that crab vest I bought you! You can get around all over the pool in it like you were a proficient swimmer. I highly recommend it! Amazon has them for about $23 and they are US Coast Guard approved life saving devices.

Lucky to have the pool!

We are so lucky that Adam and Judy (otherwise known as Miles and Lola's Mommy and Daddy) let us use their pool! You love to swim and wouldn't get much of a chance otherwise. Daddy also likes to swim and plays games with you in the pool. He like to swim under you and tickle your feet.

Fat Lip

You ended up with a fat lip today. You are such a trooper! You hardly ever get the little bumps and scrapes that most toddlers get, I guess it was your time. You don't seem to mind though..

Prop 8 and DOMA

I was hoping to be in DC when the ruling was announced but we missed it by just days! Today the Supreme Court overturned Prop 8 in CA and DOMA. After a few questionable decisions earlier in the month I wasn't sure what direction the court was going to go on this but turns out all the right decisions were made! So congrads to all same sex couples in California- the battle continues in other states across the US.

Back from vacation!

What a day! Mommy went to work, you went to Nancy's house and Daddy rested. Time for sleep!

NY/DC Day 8

Mommy and Daddy started the day with a walking tour of Arlington Cemetery. We then visited the Pentagon 9/11 memorial. We met up with Grandma and you at the train station and took the train in to see the photographer. The rain held off just long enough for a nap for you and to do some awesome photos! It was hot, sticky and gross out but we pretended it wasn't when we were doing photos.

After photos we headed back to the hotel to get the luggage and head to the airport. We made it in plenty of time and had a nice dinner before flying back to LAX. Another vacation for the books!

NY/DC Day 7

Last full day in DC and we lived it up! We tried to meet up for some family photos but rain pushed them off till tomorrow. Since we were up early we didn't let the rain stop by and we headed up the National Cathedral. What a beautiful building! The rain let up a bit so we ventured back onto the bus and headed down to Ford's Theater where Abraham Lincoln was shot.  We did a tour of both the theater and the house across the street where he died. Next up for you, nap time! Which worked perfect because it was time for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

We got to explore at our own pace while you slept away. We headed into Georgetown for a river cruise. We saw the Watergate hotel, Arlington cemetery and lots of other great sites. Daddy was tired and headed back to the hotel while Grandma, me and you went to the Daily Grill for dinner and got cupcakes in Georgetown for dessert.

NY/DC Day 6

We were lucky enough to arrange for a tour of the capitol building. We got there early and had time to take some pictures on the outside before meeting our tour. It was only about 45 minutes, but how often does one get to go into the capitol building? Afterwards we went to a tour of the Library of Congress (amazing!) and walked by the Supreme Court (lots of construction). After a loop around the front we went to the Smithsonian on Natural History and looked at all the animals.

After we were done, you left with Daddy and Mommy and Grandma stayed in the city to do a little sightseeing and see the Capitol Steps play. We got home and you were asleep all ready, I think vacation wears you out.

NY/DC Day 5

The hottest museum ticket in town is for the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. They are free but you have to get there before 8am to stand in line for tickets. I left early and got in line and got tickets for everyone for the afternoon. I stopped by the garage where Watergate was uncovered and even stood in the parking spot where it all went down. I venture to guess this is not a huge tourist draw...

Mommy had a lunch with some work friends and I met up with you ar the Smithsonian on American History. We saw the flag that inspired our national anthem, Julia Child's kitchen, the Greensboro lunch counter, 1st lady ball gowns and so much more. It was an amazing place!! We walked through the mall (caught Daddy up on the sights) on our way to Bureau of Printing. We couldn't take pictures inside, but saw all the money being printed, the new 100 bills coming this November and learned how paper becomes money. It was worth the effort to get the tickets!

You went swimming with Grandma at the hotel pool while Mommy and Daddy did a walking tour of Georgetown. We ended at the stairs from the movie the Exorcist.

NY/DC Day 4

Another early morning, this time to catch the Megabus from NY to DC. It was a 4.5 hour non stop ride to Union Station in DC. We got off the bus and after some inital confusion on how to buy a metro card (DC, I promise it doesn't have to be that hard) we made it to our hotel. We had a very nice lunch with a friend of Mommys and took the train into the city for a walking tour. Daddy took the train to the baseball game.

Before our tour we had a little bit of time so we stopped by the national Christmas tree (you refused to take a picture) and saw the white house. We met our tour guide and did a lovely walking tour of the national mall at night. You even got to see fireflys! It was a long day and looking forward to a good sleep tonight!

NY/DC Day 3

Another whirlwind day in NYC, leaving tomorrow first thing for DC so we have to fit it all in today! We started the morning with the free breakfast at the hotel and off to the Staten Island Ferry. We rode across the river and back, admiring the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge and downtown Manhattan. On the way back you started singing "I love my mommy, I love my mommy, I love mommy so much!". It was so sweet!

Daddy headed up to Yankee Stadium for his first ever double header and we took the train up to B&H photo. Mommy got a new lens for her camera, it is so nice! After the photo store we went to the Central Park Zoo and of course Central Park! We got ice cream after we were done and enjoyed it by the boat house. We walked up to The Met and you fell asleep, perfect for Grandma and Mommy to enjoy the art! After we were done we walked up to the Guggenheim to see the outside before taking the train to Roosevelt Island Tram, Dylan's Candy and FAO Schwartz. The big piano was closed so we will have to go next time.

We ate at the Juniors in Times Square, went on the ferris wheel at Toy R US and stopped by the M&M store. Back to the hotel to pack and get ready for our trip to DC tomorrow!
